Relations between India and Tesla, the world’s largest electric car maker, have deteriorated somewhat in recent years. The company considered bringing its own vehicles into the country and requested the government to reduce import tariffs. However, the Indian government has always refused this request. After lobbying talks stalled for some time, several executives from the American electric car maker are now reportedly visiting India to meet with Indian government officials. The purpose of the conference is to find ways for the company to deepen its supply chain in India and diversify out of China.

So far, the topics of discussion at this meeting between senior Tesla executives and officials from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office have not been made public as the meeting is closed to the public in nature. However, a source familiar with the situation said the company would like to discuss opportunities to source local products for use in building luxury electric vehicles such as the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.

Attendees are expected to include executives and managers from Tesla’s supply chain, manufacturing and business development, based in Austin, Texas. Executives said Tesla plans to reiterate its call for India to lower import tariffs on its cars, according to people familiar with the matter.

For those who don’t know, as previously reported on Cartoq, Tesla has been pressuring the Indian government to lower high EV import tariffs since 2019. But the Indian government decided not to do so. India currently imposes an import duty of 60% on EVs under $40,000. However, EVs priced above $40,000 will be subject to a 100% import duty. The same problem applies to internal combustion engine vehicles brought into the country. Alongside Tesla, Audi was also alleged to have lobbied the Indian government to lower its high tariffs.

The American electric car maker has even appointed a dedicated official to lead Tesla’s lobbying efforts in India. But after the government reluctantly ignored Tesla’s request, the company asked its Indian team to work on expanding into the larger markets of the Middle East and Asia Pacific (APAC). As a result, Manuj Khurana, the head of policy and business development at Tesla in India, resigned.

For more than a year, Mr Khurana has been lobbying India to reduce import tariffs on electric cars from 100% to 40%. Tesla argued that this would allow it to test the market with imports from manufacturing hubs such as China before investing in factories. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has demanded that Tesla first tackle car production in India before making any concessions. As a result, Tesla put its ambitions to sell cars in India on hold, redeployed its domestic workforce and abandoned its search for showroom space after negotiations stalled.

The country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, is preparing to launch its most expensive model yet in the coming months. We are talking about the premium MPV Maruti Suzuki Engage. This upcoming MPV is another of his badged models co-developed with fellow Japanese auto giant Toyota Kirloskar Motors. The Engage MPV is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross, with minor external adjustments to distinguish it from the Innova Hycross. A video recently surfaced online showing what this newest Maruti Suzuki MPV looks like.

A video rendering of this upcoming MPV has been shared by Barawala Designs on their YouTube channel. The video begins with the front of the Engage MPV. In the video, we can see that the front grille of the Toyota Innova Hicross has been replaced with that of Maruti Suzuki’s current flagship, the Grand Vitara. Additionally, the Toyota badging has been replaced with a Suzuki badging and a new signature Maruti Suzuki chrome stripe has been added to the grille. Other than that, the front end is essentially identical to that of the previous Toyota Innova Highcross.

In terms of the side profile of the rendered car, not much has changed, the only big difference you can notice is the different sets of alloy wheels. The redesigned MPV’s alloy wheels are the same as those currently offered on the Grand Vitara. Nothing has changed on the Engage rendering backend except for adding the chrome stripes and the Suzuki logo. Aside from exterior changes, there are no major changes inside this upcoming MPV, keeping all the amenities and features of the Toyota Innova Highcross mostly intact.

Maruti Suzuki Engage Expected Front Look

In terms of features, we can expect the Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki to offer a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a digital driver’s display, dual-zone temperature control, and ventilated front seats in the Maruti premium MPV. Additionally, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, and connected car technology are likely to be included. Meanwhile, on the safety front, the car could come equipped with front and rear parking sensors, up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control (VSC), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ADAS features, including lane-keeping and departure aid, adaptive cruise control, and auto-emergency braking.

As for the powertrain side of things, the premium MPV Engage will most likely be available from Maruti Suzuki with the same drivetrain choices as the Innova Hycross. This suggests that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine will be the two powerplant options for this MPV. The naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 173 hp and 209 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Innova Hycross’s 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrain reaches a maximum output of 184 horsepower and a full fuel consumption of 23.24 km/h.

Rumour has it that the EV division of Tata Motors, the country’s largest electric car maker, has been working on an electric version of its hugely popular Punch micro SUV for a long time. After months of rumours, we finally have proof that this is true. I recently captured a spy shot of an electric version of the Tata Punch being towed by a flatbed. Team-BHP reports that this latest Tata Punch EV test mule was spotted near Lonavala Hill Station in Maharashtra.

Tata Punch EV Spotted Look

You can’t tell from the photos that there’s much difference in appearance, but discerning observers will notice that this particular test mule has an extra rear disc brake. This option is not available for ICE iterations of punch. This additional braking equipment is believed to have been added to support the extra weight created by the car’s heavy battery and motor. The report also states that the Test Mule didn’t have a conventional exhaust system, which is another big piece of evidence that this is an electric version of the Punch.

Aside from these differences, there were no noticeable changes to the exterior, but you can expect some cosmetic tweaks to be made once the car is unveiled. Presumably, the car’s front bumper will be fitted with a closed grille, similar to the EV version of the Tiago EV. In addition, the car received an additional EV badging with blue accents around the perimeter and the standard ICE brothers, still the most popular micro SUV in the country and one of Tata’s most popular cars. are distinguished from

Tata Punch EV Expected Look

So far, no details have been revealed about the powertrain specs of the upcoming Tata Punch EV, but the company has announced that it will feature Ziptron technology, which is also found in models such as the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV. expected to provide. Several battery packs are available that offer different ranges. In his recently launched Tiago EV, the company offers a hatchback powered by his 24kWh battery, which gives him an MIDC-certified range of 315km. There is also a small battery of 19.2 kWh. The MIDC-certified range is 250 km. Presumably, these numbers will hold up for the Tata Punch EV as well.

The Tata Punch EV could also be equipped with various driving modes such as city and sports. Different levels of playback may also occur to increase range. Perhaps the company will also offer an EV micro SUV with telematics via Z-Connect. Tiago EV now has over 65 features including remote climate control on/off, remote geofencing, real-time charging status, smartwatch connectivity and more. Tata may also offer leather seats, automatic climate control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, power ORVM, cruise control, and more. In addition, the vehicle can also be supplied with a top-of-the-range version with up to eight loudspeakers.

Reckless driving on public roads is always a nuisance to society. When such driving leads to a fatal accident, the consequences can be disastrous, especially for an expensive car like the Porsche 911. Unfortunately, such an accident occurred in the early morning of May 11, when a high-speed Porsche 911 crashed into a tree and burst into flames.

The incident happened around 4 am on a golf course road in Gurgaon where a red Porsche 911 S Turbo worth around Rs 4 Crore burned to ashes following a high-speed crash. Witnesses claim the driver of the Porsche 911 was drunk at the time of the accident and was driving uncontrollably.

Completely Damaged Porsche after the accident

The driver, under the influence of alcohol, lost control and crashed into a guardrail on the golf course road. The car then crashed into a tree next to the service lane. The severity of the crash completely destroyed the Porsche 911, and the sparks that followed the accident reduced the sports car to ashes.

The noise and intensity of the fire prompted many witnesses to call the fire department. Firefighters arrived at the accident scene, but the car was charred beyond repair and could not be rescued. The violent impact blew away parts of the car, many of which fell far from the crash site.

Porsche scene of the accident

At the time of the accident, there were two men in the Porsche 911, both of whom were under the influence of alcohol. Both men escaped from the burning car and fled the scene of the accident.

A license plate number on a car found at the crash site revealed that the car was registered in Chandigarh and was heading to Sikandarpur before the accident. The whereabouts of the two men are unknown, but Gurugram police are investigating based on the car’s license plate number.

Car fires can have many causes. The cause of this Porsche fire is unknown, but a high-speed accident could have caused a leak in a fuel line, leading to a large fire. The exact cause of the accident is not yet known as the police are still investigating the accident. But in many high-profile cases involving luxury cars, the details are rarely revealed.

Aside from minor updates to the variant lineup and the need to comply with revised emissions and safety regulations, the 3rd generation Hyundai i20 hasn’t changed much since its launch in 2020. However, Hyundai is reportedly working on a facelifted version of the i20, which is expected to arrive in India in the next few weeks. South Korean online platform AutoSpy has leaked images of this upcoming facelifted Hyundai i20. It appears to be production ready with some visible improvements.

Hyundai Elite i20 Front Look

Outwardly, this revamped i20 isn’t a big facelift compared to the current model. The headlights have been slightly adjusted to have a curved outer edge and feature full LED illumination similar to the headlights on the new 4th generation Verna.

Hyundai Elite i20 Side Look

The grille looks the same as before, but the front bumper is new with a boomerang-shaped air curtain and a sportier-looking front splitter.

The facelifted Hyundai i20 looks unchanged from the side, but the car has new alloy wheels. At the rear, the LED taillights with Z-shaped LED inserts and the design of the tailgate balance the current model. However, the rear bumper has been updated with a new reflector housing and a new rear diffuser design with silver trim.

New and Updated cabin Hyundai Elite i20

A single image of the interior of the facelifted Hyundai i20 has also leaked, showing that the cabin layout has been kept with the same all-black theme. The most noticeable change on this refreshed i20, however, is the new full TFT instrument panel that looks just like the Alcazar. Other than that, the cabin appears to retain its current feature list, which includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and wireless charging. The new i20 is also expected to be equipped with new features such as ventilated front seats.

Hyundai recently ditched diesel models of the i20 and the hatchback will only be available as a pure petrol version. This means that the new and improved i20 retains the current version’s 1.2-litre 4-cylinder 83PS turbocharged petrol engine and 1.0-litre 3-cylinder 120PS turbocharged petrol engine.

The facelifted version of the Hyundai i20 will go on sale first in its home market of South Korea, followed by other major markets, including India. The new i20 will continue to compete with vehicles such as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Granza and Tata Altros.

In a bizarre accident, a Volkswagen Taigan overturned after crashing into a parked Tata Tiago. The accident was reported from Surat, Gujarat. It was an accident a long time ago, but I can understand how important the centre of gravity of a car is.

The video shows a Volkswagen Taigan crashing into a parked Tata Tiago on the shoulder of the road. The force turned the army on its side. The video shows Taigun resting on the roof while Tata Tiago is still standing.

Witnesses said a Volkswagen Taigan crashed into the Tata Tiago at high speed. A medium-sized SUV overturned due to a collision between Tata Tiago on the right rear and Taigan on the left front. No injuries have been reported in this incident. Everyone got out safely.

Why did it overturn?

A fast car that collides at a certain angle can become very unstable and roll over, which may also be due to the SUV’s high centre of gravity. We have not investigated the scene of the accident, so we cannot be certain. Because of their top-heavy construction, SUVs have more ground clearance than standard hatchbacks and sedans, making them prone to overturning. Be especially careful when driving an SUV at high speed. High ground clearance moves the vehicle’s centre of gravity away from the road, making the SUV unstable. As a result, driving around high-speed corners in an SUV can be nerve-wracking, but in a low-rise vehicle like a sedan, it’s perfectly fine.

The high ground clearance of an SUV increases its tendency to tip over and tip over. So you have to be more careful when driving an SUV, especially when transitioning from a sedan.

Top-rated cars

Both vehicles are the safest cars in their respective segments. The Volkswagen Taigan earned its perfect 5-star rating in the Global NCAP test, while Tata his Tiago hatchback earned a 4-star rating.

According to Global NCAP safety ratings, the Tiago is the safest car in its segment, earning him four stars for underfoot and construction despite the shaky ratings.

Tata Motors has one of the best model ranges in India in terms of safety ratings. Tata Tiago and Tigor have a 4-star safety rating, and Tata Altroz and Tata Nexon have all 5-star safety ratings. The safety rating agency has yet to test other Tata vehicles such as the Harrier and Safari.

Taigun and Kushaq are tested under the new, more stringent global NCAP guidelines. For this reason, Taigan and Kushark are considered the safest cars on the market. Updated global NCAP crash test protocol evaluates both front and side impact protection for all models tested. Additionally, to achieve a full 5-star safety rating, the vehicle must undergo Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Pedestrian Protection, and Side Impact Protection ratings.

Both cars have an adult safety rating of 29.64 out of 34 and a child safety rating of 42 out of 49. With front airbags and ESC as standard equipment, both cars achieved top marks.

Global NCAP reports that both vehicles have good head and neck protection for drivers and passengers. The driver’s chest protection was adequate, but the passenger’s chest protection was good. The driver and passenger knee protection was also good.

India is a country where vehicle theft is a major problem. There have been several reports of vehicle thefts from different parts of the country, and in most cases, the stolen vehicles are difficult to track down. Thieves usually dismantle the vehicle completely and sell the parts individually on the market. However, an interesting incident occurred in Kerala. The owner recovered the stolen bike after the thief drove the bike to his pump and refuelled it. The episode was recorded on his CCTV set up at a gas station.

YouTube channel Kannada Info Light shared a video report that is not original content. The original video report was from a Malayalam news channel. According to original reports, Praveen, a Panchayat member of Kadarndi village in Kojikord district, had his motorbike stolen last Saturday from Kojikord town. The next day, Praveen reported the theft to a nearby police station, but the officers demanded the original documents from the stolen motorcycle.

Praveen and his friends then drove to his home in Kadalundi to retrieve the original documents. On the way home, Praveen’s friend drives the car to the gas pump. As they rode into the station, a motorcycle passed them from the left and pulled into the front row of their car. Praveen said the bike was actually his stolen motorcycle, and that he was riding with a fellow passenger. He said it was stolen along with his helmet. He immediately alerted his friends and they took action to catch the thief.

Bike thief on the stolen bike at the petrol pump

The video shown here was captured by a CCTV camera installed on the pump. While Praveen’s friend was hunting down the thief, he took out his mobile phone and clicked on a picture of the thief. The thief realized he was in trouble and he fled the scene. However, Praveen and his friends manage to catch the passenger who was with the thief and hand him over to the police. The whole incident resembled a movie scene where a stolen car reappears in front of its owner. The whole event was recorded by a CCTV camera installed at the pump. The culprit escaped without taking off his helmet, so it was difficult to identify the culprit from the video. However, he was seen removing his helmet when he ran out of gas pumps.

Motorcycles are easy targets for thieves. Especially since most bikes only have handlebar locks and don’t have the latest security features. The motorcycle stolen in this video appears to be Hero’s Splendor, not equipped with tracking devices or intruder alarms. To make your motorcycle more secure, consider installing aftermarket wheel or handlebar locks, immobilizers, or trackers. If you park your motorcycle in front of your house at night, park it in a well-lit area where people can easily see it. Also, if you don’t have the above equipment, use heavy chains to secure your bike. Thieves usually don’t spend much time trying to steal a vehicle, and if they take too long, they are more likely to get caught, so they often abandon the attempt.

Just a few days ago, it was reported that Ola Electric, the country’s largest electric scooter maker, would refund customers a total of Rs 130 crore for the off-board chargers they had charged. As a further development on this issue, Ola Electric has now officially announced that it will actually refund all customers.

In an official statement, the company said, “We are honoured by our customers’ unwavering trust and support of #Mission Electric and #EndICEage. Today, Ola is India’s largest and most trusted electric vehicle brand. Recent charger prices The electric vehicle industry has seen unprecedented success in recent years, despite attempts by stakeholders to set stories, etc. As an industry leader, we are committed to continuing to put our customers first. As another example, apart from the procedure, we have decided to refund the charge for the charger to all eligible customers. This move not only demonstrates our commitment to the EV revolution but also helps us build trust and deliver value to our customers. ”

The statement also thanked the government, especially Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, for its progressive approach and policies to the electric vehicle industry, including FAME, PLI-AAT and PLI-ACC. The government’s unwavering support and partnerships with Ola Electric and the sector have helped accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the country, the company said.

Other major EV scooter makers, namely Ather, TVS and Vida (Hero MotoCorp’s EV sub-brands) are also reportedly issuing refunds to customers for the same reason. All of these companies have been found guilty of separately billing customers for EV scooter chargers. A survey of this major automaker was initiated by the Ministry of Heavy Industry.

His Ather Energy, a Bangalore-based start-up, will return an estimated total of Rs 140 crore to his 95,000 customers across the country, according to reports. In addition, Ather will reimburse the Ministry of Heavy Industry Rs 2.5 crore for the reduced battery capacity because the updated software was not purchased. Customers who purchased Ather 450X EV scooters before April 12 2023 are eligible for a refund. The company recently issued a statement to that effect.

Additionally, TVS will refund INR 1.61 billion to 87,000 customers who purchased iQube S models between May 2022 and March 2023. Government officials have determined that Hero MotoCorp will produce its 2.23 billion Pro version of the e-2W by March 2023 launch.

For those who are unaware, the Ministry of Heavy Industry has sued whistleblowers alleging that all four of these companies fraudulently claimed at least Rs. In response, we launched an investigation. Charger and proprietary software as separate items. In February this year, the government commissioned the Indian Automobile Research Institute to investigate. A dozen other electric two-wheeler manufacturers are under separate government investigations for failing to meet the program’s localization obligations.

We’ve seen some past incidents of YouTube influencers trying to hit the magic speed limit of 300km/h. Some of them have been successful, but they are still very dangerous. Agastya Chauhan’s recent accident on the Yamuna highway shows the same.

A horrific accident while trying to reach 300 km/h on the Yamuna highway killed Agastya on the spot. According to many reports, Agastya was a professional biker. But I think he was riding his bike and making videos for a long time. Professional bikers receive regular training from established schools such as the California Superbike School.

The accident happened while Agastya was travelling on the Yamuna highway from Agra to Delhi. The exact location of the incident is 47 miles around the Thapal Police Station in Uttar Pradesh. While trying to reach the 300 km/h mark, the driver lost control and crashed into a highway bulkhead.

His Kawasaki ZX-10R was blown to pieces, shattering his helmet. The driver died instantly from head injuries.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R features an in-line 4-cylinder 998cc engine capable of producing 197.3 hp of maximum power at 13,000 rpm and 113.5 Nm of maximum torque at 11,500 rpm. For safety reasons, the bicycle is electronically limited to a maximum speed of 299 km/h. It is a track-oriented machine.

Biker arrested in the past for attempting 300 km/h

A Bangalore biker attempted a similarly dangerous stunt during the 2020 nationwide lockdown due to the COVID pandemic. The motorcyclist posted a video of him riding a Yamaha YZF-R1 at 180mph on public roads. Posted and later caught by the police. Indeed, no official action has yet been taken for the driver’s reckless behaviour.

Speeding on public roads is always very dangerous. Even for experienced riders who have been riding superbikes for a long time, high speeds on Indian roads are unpredictable and accidents can happen quickly. For everyone’s safety, speeding should be restricted on the route.

Some might argue that even routes are not completely safe and crashes happen all the time. That may be true, but racetracks offer a much more controlled environment than public roads. increase. With no public transport or stray animals, the risk of falling on the track is much lower, and the track is designed to absorb the impact of an accident and protect riders from fatal injuries. Additionally, most routes provide critical medical attention in the first moments after an accident. It’s always better to drive fast in a controlled environment than on public roads.
