Tesla Inc Launching in India – Rumours or True?

Relations between India and Tesla, the world’s largest electric car maker, have deteriorated somewhat in recent years. The company considered bringing its own vehicles into the country and requested the government to reduce import tariffs. However, the Indian government has always refused this request. After lobbying talks stalled for some time, several executives from the American electric car maker are now reportedly visiting India to meet with Indian government officials. The purpose of the conference is to find ways for the company to deepen its supply chain in India and diversify out of China.

So far, the topics of discussion at this meeting between senior Tesla executives and officials from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office have not been made public as the meeting is closed to the public in nature. However, a source familiar with the situation said the company would like to discuss opportunities to source local products for use in building luxury electric vehicles such as the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.

Attendees are expected to include executives and managers from Tesla’s supply chain, manufacturing and business development, based in Austin, Texas. Executives said Tesla plans to reiterate its call for India to lower import tariffs on its cars, according to people familiar with the matter.

For those who don’t know, as previously reported on Cartoq, Tesla has been pressuring the Indian government to lower high EV import tariffs since 2019. But the Indian government decided not to do so. India currently imposes an import duty of 60% on EVs under $40,000. However, EVs priced above $40,000 will be subject to a 100% import duty. The same problem applies to internal combustion engine vehicles brought into the country. Alongside Tesla, Audi was also alleged to have lobbied the Indian government to lower its high tariffs. 

The American electric car maker has even appointed a dedicated official to lead Tesla’s lobbying efforts in India. But after the government reluctantly ignored Tesla’s request, the company asked its Indian team to work on expanding into the larger markets of the Middle East and Asia Pacific (APAC). As a result, Manuj Khurana, the head of policy and business development at Tesla in India, resigned.

For more than a year, Mr Khurana has been lobbying India to reduce import tariffs on electric cars from 100% to 40%. Tesla argued that this would allow it to test the market with imports from manufacturing hubs such as China before investing in factories. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has demanded that Tesla first tackle car production in India before making any concessions. As a result, Tesla put its ambitions to sell cars in India on hold, redeployed its domestic workforce and abandoned its search for showroom space after negotiations stalled.

Maruti Suzuki Engage premium MPV based on Toyota Innova HyCross: look-alike [Video]

The country’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, is preparing to launch its most expensive model yet in the coming months. We are talking about the premium MPV Maruti Suzuki Engage. This upcoming MPV is another of his badged models co-developed with fellow Japanese auto giant Toyota Kirloskar Motors. A video recently surfaced online showing what this newest Maruti Suzuki MPV looks like.

In the video, we can see that the front grille of the Toyota Innova Hicross has been replaced with that of Maruti Suzuki’s current flagship, the Grand Vitara. Additionally, the Toyota badging has been replaced with a Suzuki badging and a new signature Maruti Suzuki chrome stripe has been added to the grille. Other than that, the front end is essentially identical to that of the previous Toyota Innova Highcross.

In terms of the side profile of the rendered car, not much has changed, the only big difference you can notice is the different sets of alloy wheels. The redesigned MPV’s alloy wheels are the same as those currently offered on the Grand Vitara. Nothing has changed on the Engage rendering backend except for adding the chrome stripes and the Suzuki logo. Aside from exterior changes, there are no major changes inside this upcoming MPV, keeping all the amenities and features of the Toyota Innova Highcross mostly intact. 

Maruti Suzuki Engage Expected Front Look

In terms of features, we can expect the Indo-Japanese carmaker Maruti Suzuki to offer a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a digital driver’s display, dual-zone temperature control, and ventilated front seats in the Maruti premium MPV. Additionally, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, and connected car technology are likely to be included. Meanwhile, on the safety front, the car could come equipped with front and rear parking sensors, up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control (VSC), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ADAS features, including lane-keeping and departure aid, adaptive cruise control, and auto-emergency braking.

As for the powertrain side of things, the premium MPV Engage will most likely be available from Maruti Suzuki with the same drivetrain choices as the Innova Hycross. This suggests that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine will be the two powerplant options for this MPV. The naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 173 hp and 209 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Innova Hycross’s 2.0-litre petrol hybrid powertrain reaches a maximum output of 184 horsepower and a full fuel consumption of 23.24 km/h.

New Tata Punch Electric spotted on test for the first time

Rumour has it that the EV division of Tata Motors, the country’s largest electric car maker, has been working on an electric version of its hugely popular Punch micro SUV for a long time. Tata Punch EV Expected Look

So far, no details have been revealed about the powertrain specs of the upcoming Tata Punch EV, but the company has announced that it will feature Ziptron technology, which is also found in models such as the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV. expected to provide. Gurugram: Speeding Porsche catches fire after hitting tree

Reckless driving on public roads is always a nuisance to society. When such driving leads to a fatal accident, the consequences can be disastrous, especially for an expensive car like the Porsche 911. Unfortunately, such an accident occurred in the early morning of May 11, when a high-speed Porsche 911 crashed into a tree and burst into flames. 

The incident happened around 4 am on a golf course road in Gurgaon where a red Porsche 911 S Turbo worth around Rs 4 Crore burned to ashes following a high-speed crash. Witnesses claim the driver of the Porsche 911 was drunk at the time of the accident and was driving uncontrollably.

Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift Images Leaked Before Launch

Bike thieves caught in front of bike owner: Busted

YouTube channel Kannada Info Light shared a video report that is not original content. The original video report was from a Malayalam news channel. According to original reports, Praveen, a Panchayat member of Kadarndi village in Kojikord district, had his motorbike stolen last Saturday from Kojikord town. The next day, Praveen reported the theft to a nearby police station, but the officers demanded the original documents from the stolen motorcycle.

Praveen and his friends then drove to his home in Kadalundi to retrieve the original documents. On the way home, Praveen’s friend drives the car to the gas pump. As they rode into the station, a motorcycle passed them from the left and pulled into the front row of their car. Praveen said the bike was actually his stolen motorcycle, and that he was riding with a fellow passenger. He said it was stolen along with his helmet. He immediately alerted his friends and they took action to catch the thief.

Ola, Ather, TVS to refund nearly Rs 300 crore charger cost to customers

Just a few days ago, it was reported that Ola Electric, the country’s largest electric scooter maker, would refund customers a total of Rs 130 crore for the off-board chargers they had charged. We’ve seen some past incidents of YouTube influencers trying to hit the magic speed limit of 300km/h. Some of them have been successful, but they are still very dangerous. Agastya Chauhan’s recent accident on the Yamuna highway shows the same. 

A horrific accident while trying to reach 300 km/h on the Yamuna highway killed Agastya on the spot. According to many reports, Agastya was a professional biker. But I think he was riding his bike and making videos for a long time. Professional bikers receive regular training from established schools such as the California Superbike School. 

The accident happened while Agastya was travelling on the Yamuna highway from Agra to Delhi. The exact location of the incident is 47 miles around the Thapal Police Station in Uttar Pradesh. While trying to reach the 300 km/h mark, the driver lost control and crashed into a highway bulkhead. 

His Kawasaki ZX-10R was blown to pieces, shattering his helmet. The driver died instantly from head injuries.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R features an in-line 4-cylinder 998cc engine capable of producing 197.3 hp of maximum power at 13,000 rpm and 113.5 Nm of maximum torque at 11,500 rpm. For safety reasons, the bicycle is electronically limited to a maximum speed of 299 km/h. It is a track-oriented machine. 

Biker arrested in the past for attempting 300 km/h

A Bangalore biker attempted a similarly dangerous stunt during the 2020 nationwide lockdown due to the COVID pandemic. The motorcyclist posted a video of him riding a Yamaha YZF-R1 at 180mph on public roads. Posted and later caught by the police. Indeed, no official action has yet been taken for the driver’s reckless behaviour.

Speeding on public roads is always very dangerous. Even for experienced riders who have been riding superbikes for a long time, high speeds on Indian roads are unpredictable and accidents can happen quickly. For everyone’s safety, speeding should be restricted on the route.

Some might argue that even routes are not completely safe and crashes happen all the time. That may be true, but racetracks offer a much more controlled environment than public roads. increase. With no public transport or stray animals, the risk of falling on the track is much lower, and the track is designed to absorb the impact of an accident and protect riders from fatal injuries. Additionally, most routes provide critical medical attention in the first moments after an accident. It’s always better to drive fast in a controlled environment than on public roads.
