Hyundai announced that it will release the subcompact SUV “Exter” on July 10th. The South Korean automaker has released some images of the Exter, not only revealing its launch date but also showing some of the features the SUV will have. The new Hyundai Exter sits below the compact SUV venue and is already available for dealer pre-order. 

He posted an image of Hyundai on social media platforms showing an Exter with a single-pane sunroof, suggesting the feature would also be available on production models. This makes the Exter the cheapest Hyundai car with a sunroof. In addition, the Exter features a segment-first drive recorder mounted on the front window. The dash cam has 3 recording modes.

Exter’s design language is unique, featuring an upright, boxy stance. Hyundai teasers so far have featured H-shaped daytime running LEDs, LED projector headlights in rectangular housings, bold silver skid plates, black body panels, machined alloy wheels, roof rails and C-pillars. textured finishes have already been revealed. However, the rear profile of the Exter has yet to be revealed, although it is expected that the taillights will feature LED inserts.

Exter will come with a petrol engine

All five trim levels of the new Hyundai Exter will be equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 5-speed AMT is available as an option for the subcompact SUV. This 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine is shared with the Grand i10 Nios and is said to produce a maximum output of 83 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque. Certain trim levels of the Hyundai Exter will also feature his CNG powertrain. Six airbags come standard on all his five trim levels: EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect.

The new Hyundai Exter will compete head-on with the popular Tata Punch, which is being sold by Tata Motors. It will also compete with the Citroen C3 and Mahindra’s upcoming subcompact SUV (called his XUV100 to replace his out-of-production KUV100).

The new Hyundai Exter should be a strong vehicle in its segment. Hyundai may introduce off-road modes and other traction-based features that improve the vehicle’s capabilities. In the teaser, Hyundai hinted that this compact SUV can handle a variety of terrains.
