Which 100cc bike gives the best mileage?
Claimed figures are not published consistently by every maker, so we used BikeWale's owner-reported averages as a fair like-for-like basis. By that measure the Bajaj Platina 100 leads at 75 kmpl. The Star City Plus and Platina 110 follow at 70 kmpl. Hero rates the Splendor Plus XTEC at 73 kmpl (ARAI), but owners report closer to 65 kmpl.
How do the popular commuter bikes compare?
Hero Splendor Plus and XTEC: the default choice
The Splendor Plus starts at Rs 77,131 with a 97.2cc engine, 9.8-litre tank and i3S idle start-stop on most variants. It is easy to fix anywhere and holds resale value well. The XTEC (from Rs 81,360) adds a digital console with Bluetooth, call and SMS alerts and a USB charger. Best for: riders who want zero-fuss ownership.
Honda Shine 100: the best value
At Rs 66,002 the Shine 100 is over Rs 11,000 cheaper than a Splendor Plus. At 99 kg it is the lightest bike here and very easy to handle. The base model has tubed tyres and an analogue console; the DX (Rs 71,966) adds tubeless tyres and a digital display. Best for: first bikes and tight budgets.
Bajaj Platina 100 and 110: mileage and comfort
The Platina 100 (Rs 71,049) has an 11-litre tank, 200mm ground clearance and soft suspension. The Platina 110 (Rs 75,819) gets a bigger 115cc engine, tubeless tyres and more torque for carrying a pillion. Best for: long daily commutes and rough roads.
TVS Radeon and Star City Plus: comfort and features
The Radeon uses a 109.7cc engine, 18-inch wheels with tubeless tyres, LED DRLs and a USB charger. The All Black edition at Rs 58,850 is the cheapest bike in this list with those features, and the Digi Disc (Rs 80,600) adds a front disc. The Star City Plus (Rs 72,072) shares its engine. Best for: comfort-first commuters.
Hero HF Deluxe, Passion Plus and Honda Livo
The HF Deluxe from Rs 58,688 is the cheapest way into a Hero. The Passion Plus (from Rs 79,537) has an 11-litre tank and a Bluetooth-equipped disc variant. The Honda Livo (Rs 81,031) is the most refined 110cc here, with 8.7bhp and tubeless tyres as standard. If you can stretch beyond Rs 1 lakh, see our best 125cc bikes comparison.

Most of these bikes still ship with halogen headlamps, and night commutes can feel dim. A plug-and-play NightHawk H4 LED headlight fits many H4 commuters (check your bike's bulb type first). If your bike lives outdoors, a waterproof Hydra bike cover keeps the post-monsoon dust and rain off. Parking at a busy market? Use a 4-digit helmet lock for your lid and a heavy duty cable lock through the wheel.

Is Navratri a good time to buy a commuter bike?
Sharad Navratri runs from 11 to 20 October 2026, followed by Dhanteras and Diwali. Dealers often add accessories or insurance deals, but popular colours sell out, so book early and get offers in writing.
