Toyota Presents The Electric Hiace Concept, Giving An Insight Into The Future Of Urban Delivery

The Hiace BEV vehicle was one of many concepts displayed by the Japanese automaker at the 2023 Japanese Mobility event.

Toyota is making inroads into the electric vehicle (EV) sector, and the recent introduction of the Global Hiace BEV Concept is yet another feather in their cap. Toyota unveiled many new concepts as part of its display at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The Hiace BEV Concept is one of them, displaying their vision for the future of delivery trucks.

The cargo-focused design of the Hiace BEV Concept sets it apart. The electric van is capable of carrying things up to 3.47 meters long, due to its level floor and specialized loading cart, making loading and unloading products easier than before. This design is well-suited for a wide range of delivery activities, whether in urban or rural settings. Furthermore, the van has a surprisingly short turning radius of 5.48 meters, which improves its maneuverability in packed city streets.

While no official release date has been set, the Hiace BEV Concept is expected to hit the streets in 2025. The Kia EV4 Concept Teases a Future Electric Sedan

Kia’s newest concept car is built on the ‘Opposites United‘ design philosophy, and it combines SUV features with a fastback body shape.

Kia marked EV Day 2023 by revealing two all-new EV concepts as it accelerates its electrification drive. The first was the new EV3 concept, which previewed a future SUV to compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV, while the second was an all-new sedan, the EV4. The EV4 concept previews the brand’s first dedicated born-electric car, with the company’s EV lineup now limited to SUVs.

The EV4 Concept, which is expected to go into production by 2025, borrows Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy from its born-electric series for usage in a sedan body type. The result is a design that is sure to divide opinion, combining the upright design characteristics of SUVs with the more three-box form of a typical sedan.

To begin, the Concept’s front fascia lacks drama, with smooth surfaces and gentle contours. The bonnet is separated from the front bumper by a narrow black trim piece, and the huge central air dam does not appear to be functioning. A closer look reveals vertically stacked headlights on either corner of the fascia, as well as paneling around the lower edge of the bumper.

The EV4 has the silhouette of a fastback, with a sharply slanted rear pillar that flows all the way to the integrated boot-lid spoiler. There’s some paneling over the substantial wheel arches, as well as around the lower doors. The curved roofline and upswept window line enhance the four-door coupe appearance, while the black finished trim on the C pillar enhances the floating roof image.

The broad sloping curving rear windscreen, vertically oriented tail lights, and conspicuous usage of cladding on the lower bumper characterize the rear.

An astounding electric range of up to 438 kilometers on a single charge is reportedly offered by the BMW iX1 electric SUV, which will be outfitted with a 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The iX1 is anticipated to include an onboard 11 kW 3-phase charger for easy charging. Additionally, it will feature rapid charging, which will have a capacity of up to 130 kW and allow the SUV to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

According to the source, the design of the BMW iX1 electric SUV is quite similar to that of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart with the main difference being the closed grille’s front honeycomb mesh design.
