Festive season means long drives home, packed boots and highway runs at odd hours. One habit pays off on every one of those trips: driving on correctly inflated tyres. Autofy sells six tyre inflators between Rs 989 and Rs 4,999, and they are not interchangeable. Some plug into your car's 12V socket, some run on a battery, and two do a lot more than pump air. We went through each product page on the Autofy store so you can pick the one that fits how you actually drive.

Why tyre pressure matters before a road trip

The US road-safety regulator NHTSA says tyre pressure affects safety, tyre durability and fuel consumption, and advises checking all tyres, including the spare, at least once a month. Check them cold, meaning the car has not been driven for about three hours, and use the pressure printed on the label on the driver's door edge or in your owner's manual, not the maximum figure on the tyre sidewall. Treat this as general guidance; your car's manual always comes first.

A home inflator makes this a two-minute job in your parking spot instead of a detour to a petrol pump with a doubtful gauge. The question is which one.

The price gap splits neatly into two groups. The four plain inflators sit between Rs 989 and Rs 2,299. The two cordless multi-tools, Bolt and VoltX, cost more than double because you are also paying for a vacuum or a jump starter.

Each inflator in short, with one honest limitation

OPTIMUS: Rs 989

The OPTIMUS 12V inflator is the simplest option: 12V input, 100W, a 19mm cylinder, a 3-metre wire and a large analog meter. Autofy says it takes a 195/55 R15 tyre from 12 to 32 PSI in 5.5 minutes, and it comes with extra nozzles for bike tyres and balls. Limitation: auto-cut is not listed on the product page, so you have to watch the needle and switch it off yourself.

Sonic: Rs 1,399

The Sonic auto-cut digital inflator adds the two features most people want: a digital display and auto-cut that stops at your set pressure. It has a copper coil motor, 22mm metal cylinder, 35 L/min airflow, 4-metre wire, LED light and silicon anti-vibration feet. Limitation: it is corded, so it only works near the car and the page does not list the input voltage or wattage.

AirBit: Rs 1,598

The AirBit dual power inflator is the cheapest way to go cordless. A 4500mAh battery lets it work without starting the engine, and a 12V cable is there as backup. It has five modes (Car, Bike, Cycle, Ball, Custom), auto-cut, an LED with distress flash, and doubles as a small power bank. Autofy says it inflates 12 to 35 PSI in 3 minutes. Limitation: one full charge fills up to two 195/55 R15 tyres, so a big top-up session needs the cable.

AIR+: Rs 2,299

AIR+ is the corded premium pick: 12V, 120W, a 22mm metal cylinder, 150 PSI, a 4-metre wire, auto-cut and a hybrid display that shows both digital and analog readings. It carries a 1+1 year warranty. Stock is limited at the moment. Limitation: it still needs the car's 12V socket, so there is no cordless use.

Bolt 5-in-1: Rs 4,899

The Bolt 5-in-1 vacuum and inflator is a cordless vacuum (18000Pa, 100W BLDC motor, HEPA filter), air blower, vacuum extractor and SOS torch with a digital 150 PSI inflator built in. It has auto shut-off, five preset modes and a 6000mAh battery with Type-C charging. Limitation: the page does not list how many tyres one charge fills, and the vacuum shares the same battery.

VoltX: Rs 4,999

The VoltX jump starter and inflator combines an 8000mAh jump starter rated for 12V petrol and diesel cars up to 6000cc with a 150 PSI inflator (22mm copper coil motor, 60 L/min airflow, auto-cut, LCD with five modes). Autofy says it fills up to three tyres per charge and works from minus 20 to 60 degrees Celsius. It also has an LED torch with SOS and strobe, and a power bank. Limitation: it is the most expensive, and like any battery tool it is only useful if you keep it charged.

Limitations that apply to every inflator

  • Corded 12V models usually need the ignition or engine on to power the socket. Check your car's manual.
  • Portable inflators are built for top-ups. Filling a large SUV tyre from completely flat takes much longer than the quoted times, which Autofy measures on a 195/55 R15 hatchback-size tyre.
  • An inflator is not a puncture repair. If a tyre keeps losing air, get it fixed or fit the spare.
  • Set the target to the pressure on your door label, not the 150 PSI maximum on the box.

Which one should you buy

Budget hatchback owner

Go for Sonic at Rs 1,399. Auto-cut and a digital readout are worth the Rs 410 over OPTIMUS for most people. If every rupee counts and you do not mind watching a gauge, OPTIMUS at Rs 989 does the job.

SUV owner or frequent highway driver

Pick a 22mm cylinder model with auto-cut: Sonic or AIR+ if you are fine plugging in, VoltX if you want cordless with the highest listed airflow (60 L/min) and a jump starter for long trips.

Two cars plus bikes at home

AirBit at Rs 1,598 makes most sense. Its Bike and Cycle modes and cordless operation mean you can top up a scooter in the parking lot without starting a car, and the 12V cable covers bigger sessions.

Cordless convenience

Bolt 5-in-1 if you also want a car vacuum. If you only need cleaning and already own an inflator, a dedicated Storm 3 cordless car vacuum is the cheaper route.

Emergency kit for the boot

VoltX. A flat battery and a soft tyre are the two most common reasons a festive drive stalls, and it handles both, plus a torch and phone charging. Keep it charged before every long trip.

★ Autofy verdict
For most car owners, Sonic at Rs 1,399 is the sweet spot: digital display, auto-cut, 22mm cylinder and a 4-metre wire. Choose AirBit if you have bikes or want cordless on a budget. If you are building one kit for festive road trips, VoltX at Rs 4,999 earns its price by adding a jump starter. OPTIMUS remains the pick when price matters most.

Frequently asked questions

Which Autofy tyre inflator is best for a hatchback?
Sonic at Rs 1,399 is the best value pick, with a digital display and auto-cut. OPTIMUS at Rs 989 is the budget option with an analog meter.
Which Autofy inflator works without the car engine running?
The battery models: AirBit, Bolt 5-in-1 and VoltX. Corded 12V models such as OPTIMUS and AIR+ draw power from the car socket.
Can a tyre inflator fix a puncture?
No. It can top up a slow leak to get you to a tyre shop, but a punctured tyre needs repair or the spare.
What pressure should I fill in my car tyres?
Use the figure on the label on the driver's door edge or in the owner's manual, checked when the tyres are cold, not the maximum on the sidewall.
Is the AirBit 140 PSI or 150 PSI?
Its product title says 140 PSI while its spec list says 150 PSI. Either is far above any car tyre's recommended pressure.
