Which is safest: Sierra, Creta or Seltos?
The Tata Sierra scored 5 stars in Bharat NCAP in March 2026, with 31.14 out of 32 for adult protection and 44.73 out of 49 for child protection. The new Kia Seltos followed in April 2026 with 5 stars, 31.70 adult and 45.00 child points, which Kia said was the highest combined score for a petrol or diesel car at the time.
The current Hyundai Creta has not been crash tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP. The older, pre-facelift Creta with two airbags scored 3 stars from Global NCAP in 2022, but that result does not apply to today's car, which has six airbags and ESC as standard. If an official rating matters to you, the Sierra and Seltos have the edge.

Which midsize SUV should you buy? By buyer type
- Family comfort and luggage: the Tata Sierra. Its 622 litre boot swallows festive shopping and road trip bags, and the long wheelbase helps rear passengers.
- Features and safety on paper: the Kia Seltos. Big screens, Level 2 ADAS and the top Bharat NCAP score.
- Diesel automatic for highway runs: all three offer it. The Creta diesel AT claims 19.1 kmpl, while the Sierra's diesel AT has the most torque, up to 280 Nm.
- Value variant on a tight budget: the Hyundai Creta, which starts at Rs 10.91 lakh and has the widest service reach.

Must have accessories for your new SUV
Whichever SUV you bring home, a few add ons make festive drives easier. A 2K dash camera records every trip and helps with insurance claims. If you buy a base variant with halogen lamps, a 240W LED headlight upgrade improves night visibility on highways.
- Lower variants with wired CarPlay can go wireless with a 4GB CarPlay video box.
- Keep the cabin spotless after family trips with a 5 in 1 vacuum and tyre inflator.
- Dark paint like the Sierra Dark Edition shows dust quickly, so a wax infused car duster is worth keeping in the boot.
- Check pressures before long drives with a hybrid display tyre inflator.
