Renault Duster Returns to India With Hybrid Tech: Launch Timeline, Features & Engines
More than 15 years after starting the compact SUV trend in India, the Renault Duster is back in an all-new avatar. Unveiled on Republic Day in Chennai, the 2026 Renault Duster brings an updated design, advanced features, and multiple petrol engine options including a strong hybrid variant. The SUV will be launched in March, with deliveries scheduled to begin from April.
With increased competition and evolving market dynamics, it remains to be seen whether the new-generation Duster can recreate the success of the original.

India-Spec Renault Duster Gets Unique Design Updates
The India-spec Renault Duster features several design elements that set it apart from the global model. The trapezoidal grille comes with chrome surrounds and full LED headlamps on either side. Instead of the Renault diamond logo, the Duster name is prominently displayed on the grille.
Top variants ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, while the rear gets connected LED tail lamps. Dimension-wise, the SUV measures 4,343 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width, and 1,659 mm in height. Renault will offer the Duster in six colour options along with a dual-tone finish featuring a gloss black roof and spoiler.

Three Petrol Engine Options Including a Strong Hybrid Variant
The 2026 Renault Duster will be offered with three petrol powertrain options.
The entry-level engine is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol producing 99 bhp and 160 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The more powerful option is a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol that delivers 158 bhp and 280 Nm. This engine will be available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Later in the year, Renault will introduce the strong hybrid version called e-Tech 160. It combines a 1.8-litre GDI petrol engine with a 1.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Renault claims the Duster can run up to 80%of the time in pure EV mode and offers a combined driving range of up to 1,000 km.
