- Duster hybrid prices: Evolution Rs 16.99 lakh, Techno Rs 18.99 lakh, Emotion Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, reported introductory).
- E-Tech 160: 160 PS combined, 1.4 kWh battery, 29 km/l ARAI claimed.
- It costs Rs 1.00 to 2.50 lakh more than the turbo DCT Duster.
- Best value is the Emotion; Victoris and Grand Vitara start cheaper.
Renault has launched the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 in India at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Evolution, with the Techno at Rs 18.99 lakh and the Emotion at Rs 19.49 lakh. The ARAI-certified figure is 29 km/l, the highest among its hybrid rivals on paper. The question for most buyers: is the hybrid worth the extra over the turbo petrol Duster?
What are the Duster hybrid variants and prices?
Three variants are on sale, all with the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid. Reports dated 17 October 2026 treat that as launch day, and bookings are open at Rs 21,000. Reports say the prices are introductory and apply to all deliveries until 31 December 2026. Renault has not said what prices will be after that, so treat the figures below as the best-case number.
| Variant | Hybrid price (ex-showroom) | Closest turbo petrol DCT | Hybrid premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Evolution | Rs 16.99 lakh | Evolution TCe 160 DCT, Rs 14.49 lakh | Rs 2.50 lakh |
| Techno | Rs 18.99 lakh | Techno+ TCe 160 DCT, Rs 16.69 lakh | Rs 2.30 lakh |
| Emotion (top) | Rs 19.49 lakh | Iconic TCe 160 DCT, Rs 18.49 lakh | Rs 1.00 lakh |
What is under the hood: power, battery and gearbox?
The E-Tech 160 pairs a 1.8-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with electric motors and a 1.4 kWh, 247V NMC battery. Combined output is 160 PS. The gearbox is a multi-mode automatic and the car is front-wheel drive only, with no AWD. Renault claims 0 to 100 km/h in about 9.6 seconds, and says the hybrid can run on pure electric power for up to 80 per cent of city driving.

What mileage does the Duster E-Tech 160 give?
Renault quotes 29 km/l, ARAI-certified, and a range above 1,400 km on a full tank under suitable conditions. ARAI figures are lab numbers. CarDekho lists the turbo Duster DCT at 18.45 km/l ARAI, and reviewers it cites expect about 10 to 12 km/l in the city from that engine. Real-world hybrid figures are not available yet, so we will not guess them.
Is the Duster hybrid worth it over the turbo petrol?
Take the running-cost angle first. On claimed numbers, 1,000 km costs about 34.5 litres in the hybrid (29 km/l) against about 54.2 litres in the turbo DCT (18.45 km/l). That is about 19.7 litres saved. At an assumed Rs 100 per litre (our assumption, check your city), a 15,000 km year saves roughly Rs 29,500.
Against the Rs 2.30 to 2.50 lakh premium on the Evolution and Techno, that is a payback of eight years or more on claimed figures, and longer if the hybrid falls short of 29 km/l in traffic. The Emotion is different: only Rs 1.00 lakh over the top turbo DCT, so payback is roughly three to four years on the same maths.
So the honest split is this. If you want the lowest price, the turbo petrol wins. If you do mostly city driving, keep the car for years, and prefer silent electric crawling in traffic, the hybrid makes sense, especially in the Emotion trim. Remember that it is front-wheel drive only and has a smaller 1.4 kWh battery than a plug-in, so it is a self-charging hybrid, not an EV.
What features and safety does the Duster hybrid get?
- Evolution: 10.1-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, 18-inch wheels, 38 standard safety features including six airbags, hill-start assist, cruise control with speed limiter, rear parking sensors and a rear camera.
- Techno adds full-LED headlamps, an electric panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button start, connected-car tech and semi-leatherette seats.
- Emotion adds a 10.25-inch driver display, 6-way power front seats with ventilation, a powered tailgate and diamond-cut alloys.
On crash safety, the Duster earned a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating in April 2026 (adult 30.49/32, child 45/49). The test used the Evolution, Techno and Iconic 1.3 turbo-petrol variants, and Autocar India says the rating applies to all variants. A hybrid-specific test has not been reported. Renault also bundles a Protect 360 package from Rs 89,900 (three years of insurance and service, plus assured resale). One report also lists a 7-year vehicle and 8-year battery warranty; we could only find that in one source, so confirm it with the dealer.
When do bookings open and deliveries start?
Bookings opened on 9 October 2026 at Rs 21,000 through dealers and the Renault site, per AutoPunditz. Delivery reports vary: Drivespark says deliveries begin in November, while Evo India says the Evolution from 6 November, the Techno from 31 December and the Emotion first for R-Pass owners. Confirm allocation with your dealer before paying.

How does it compare with Grand Vitara, Hyryder, Victoris and City hybrid?
The Duster is not the cheapest strong hybrid. The Victoris and Grand Vitara start lower, and the Hyryder starts just above it. Its pitch is the highest claimed mileage and a bigger 160 PS output against roughly 116 PS for the Maruti and Toyota hybrids.
| Model | Hybrid price (ex-showroom, Delhi) | ARAI km/l | Combined power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Renault Duster E-Tech 160 | Rs 16.99 to 19.49 lakh | 29 | 160 PS |
| Maruti Victoris | Rs 16.43 to 20.22 lakh | 28.65 | about 116 PS |
| Maruti Grand Vitara | Rs 16.68 to 19.77 lakh | 27.97 | about 116 PS |
| Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder | Rs 17.18 to 20.31 lakh | 27.97 | about 116 PS |
| Honda City e:HEV (sedan) | about Rs 19 to 20 lakh, last recorded | 27.13 claimed | 126 PS |
What should new Duster hybrid owners add first?
Early weeks are when small habits matter. A regular pressure check helps, and the OPTIMUS 150 PSI 12V tyre inflator runs off the 12V socket. The MAG-I cordless turbo fan air duster is handy for vents and seat gaps.
For the cabin, a NECTOR hanging car perfume diffuser is a simple freshener. If your car has wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the K1 wireless CarPlay and Android Auto adapter can cut the cable, but it only works with cars that already have the wired version, so check your variant first.
Cross-shopping a Kia Seltos instead? Seltos owners can look at the ECONO car body cover for Kia Seltos. We do not list a cover for the Duster.
Day to day, a cordless cabin vacuum such as the Storm 3 V2.0 wireless car vacuum (18000PA) saves a trip to the cleaning bay.
