Nissan Tekton Review: The ₹10.49 Lakh SUV Gunning for the Creta
- Price: ₹10.49 lakh to ₹18.59 lakh ex-showroom, six variants
- Two turbo-petrols: 1.0L 99 bhp and 1.3L 160 bhp / 280 Nm
- Up to 19.4 kmpl, with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating
- Undercuts the Creta, Seltos and Grand Vitara on entry price
The Nissan Tekton launched in India on 9 July 2026 at ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), running to ₹18.59 lakh for the top Tekna Plus. It is a midsize SUV built to fight the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos head-on, and it undercuts almost every rival on entry price.
Price: the Tekton walks in cheaper than the Creta
Engines and mileage: two turbos, no filler
| Powertrain | Power / Torque | Gearbox | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.0L turbo-petrol | 99 bhp / 166 Nm | 6-speed MT | 19.4 kmpl |
| 1.3L turbo-petrol | 160 bhp / 280 Nm | 6-speed MT | 17.8 kmpl |
| 1.3L turbo-petrol | 160 bhp / 280 Nm | 6-speed DCT | 18.5 kmpl |
Both Tekton motors are turbocharged, using the same Alliance powertrains as the Renault Duster it shares its bones with. The 160 bhp 1.3 makes more torque (280 Nm) than the Creta's 1.5 turbo, and the DCT still returns a healthy 18.5 kmpl. Whichever engine you pick, keeping tyres at the right pressure protects that mileage: an auto-cut digital tyre inflator takes the guesswork out of it.

Features and safety
The top Tekna Plus brings a 10.1-inch screen with Google built-in, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ventilated powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and full-LED lighting. On safety it has banked a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating (30.49/32 adult, 45/49 child), matching the class benchmark set by the Creta and Seltos.
Conclusion: the Autofy verdict
The Tekton is the year's most interesting midsize SUV launch for one reason: a fully turbocharged, 5-star-safe SUV starting under ₹10.5 lakh. Hybrid fuel bills still favour the Grand Vitara or Hyryder, and brand-loyal buyers will weigh Creta and Seltos resale. But for the most metal, torque and safety per rupee, the Tekton has instantly made the shortlist. New SUV, new interior to protect: a cordless car vacuum keeps that cabin showroom-fresh.
