MG Hector Storm Series price and what you get
The Blackstorm and Snowstorm cost the same, Rs 19,99,800 ex-showroom. The regular Hector range starts at Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base Style variant. CarDekho's Delhi price list puts the Storm editions at the top of the Hector range, just above the Savvy Pro CVT at Rs 19.19 lakh.
Which trim are these editions based on? MG has not officially confirmed this, and none of the launch reports we read names the base trim. The equipment list is close to the top Hector variants, but please check the variant brochure with your dealer before booking.
Blackstorm vs Snowstorm: how to tell them apart
- Blackstorm: an all black look outside, with dark trim all round.
- Snowstorm: a white body (Pearl White, as per Ackodrive and GaadiWaadi) with black details and a black roof.
- Common to both: all black Storm Hex grille, Aura Storm Blade alloys with red brake calipers, dark chrome logos, skid plates and cladding, piano black roof rails, LED headlamps with piano black bezels and smoked connected tail lamps.
- Free dealer fit pack: edition badges, a red tailgate accent, fog lamp surrounds, ORVM protectors with red accents and side steps.
Interior, features and safety
Inside, both editions get a Nimbus Black theme with black leather upholstery, a gunmetal finish leather steering wheel and headrests embossed with the edition name. The feature list is the same as the Hector you already know.
- 14 inch portrait HD touchscreen with i-SWIPE gesture controls and a 7 inch digital driver display
- Dual pane panoramic sunroof and 8 colour ambient lighting
- Automatic powered tailgate, PM2.5 air purifier, rain sensing wipers and front parking sensors

Hector Storm vs rival black editions around Rs 20 lakh
Most midsize SUVs now have a dark or black edition. We picked the petrol automatic version of each that sits closest to Rs 20 lakh, so the comparison is fair. We only kept models whose current price we could check on CarDekho. The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony was a limited run edition and we could not find a current price for it, so it is not included.
| Model | Variant compared | Powertrain | Ex-showroom (Delhi) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MG Hector Blackstorm / Snowstorm | Storm Series | 1.5 turbo petrol, CVT | Rs 19.99 lakh |
| Tata Harrier Dark | Adventure X Dark AT | Petrol, automatic | Rs 19.30 lakh |
| Hyundai Creta Knight | King Knight iVT | Petrol, iVT automatic | Rs 18.83 lakh |
| Hyundai Alcazar Knight | Signature DCT Knight | Petrol, DCT automatic | Rs 21.10 lakh |
| Kia Seltos X-Line | X-Line Turbo DCT | Turbo petrol, DCT | Rs 19.52 lakh |
| Toyota Hyryder Black Edition | V Aero Black Edition AT | Petrol, automatic | Rs 17.99 lakh |
| Toyota Hyryder Black Edition | V Aero Black Edition Hybrid | Strong hybrid petrol | Rs 20.31 lakh |
So, is the Hector Storm worth Rs 20 lakh?
On price, the Hector Storm sits right in the middle of this group. The Creta Knight and Harrier Dark petrol automatics cost less, while the Alcazar Knight costs more but gives you a third row. The Hector's case is space and kit: a big portrait screen, a dual pane sunroof, a powered tailgate, ADAS and a 360 camera, plus a free accessory pack. If you want the Hector anyway and like the dark look, the Storm edition is the one to buy. If you want a turbo petrol with a quicker dual clutch gearbox, test drive the Seltos X-Line first.

How to keep a black car looking new
Black paint looks stunning on delivery day, but it shows dust, water spots and swirl marks more than any other colour. A few simple habits make a big difference.
- Dust lightly, never wipe dry: use a wax infused DustMag car duster for daily dust, with gentle straight strokes. Dry wiping with a cloth is the main cause of swirl marks.
- Wash in the shade: use two buckets and dry with a 1200 GSM twisted loop microfiber towel, so water spots do not bake into the paint.
- Clean the cabin often: the Nimbus Black interior hides stains but shows dust. Keep a wet and dry car vacuum for spills on mats.
- Cover it when parked outside: a breathable, waterproof car cover keeps bird droppings, tree sap and harsh sun off the paint.
- Keep the cabin fresh: black leather can hold heat and smells, so a long lasting car perfume helps.
- Check tyre pressure monthly: those Storm Blade alloys look best on correctly inflated tyres. Keep a 150 PSI tyre inflator in the boot, or a jump starter with a built in tyre inflator for long highway trips.
