2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift: Price, Features, ADAS and Mileage

The 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift is here. Launched in India on 5 September 2026 at an introductory Rs 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and rising to about Rs 9.37 lakh for the top Alpha, it swaps in a brand-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and finally brings Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and six airbags as standard to India's best-selling premium hatchback.

What is new on the 2026 Baleno facelift

On the outside the changes are gentle. You get a reworked grille, tweaked bumpers, fresh alloy wheel designs and new paint options, but the Baleno's familiar silhouette carries over. The real story is under the skin and inside the cabin, where Maruti has thrown almost every feature it could at the car to keep it ahead of a fast-improving rival set.

• A new 1.2-litre Z-Series (Z12E) three-cylinder petrol engine replaces the old four-cylinder unit.
• Level 2 ADAS on the top trim: adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and high-beam assist.
• Ventilated front seats, a segment-first for the Baleno, plus a head-up display and a cooled wireless charger on higher variants.
• A larger 9-inch touchscreen (7-inch on the Delta), with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Six airbags as standard across the range, a 360-degree camera and a tyre-pressure monitoring system on top trims.

Maruti is offering the car in four familiar trims, Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, with CNG limited to the mid Delta and Zeta variants. Here is how the launch prices stack up.

A new car is the right moment to sort the little things too. Engine, gearbox and mileage: the three-cylinder question

The headline change is the engine. The new 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol is a three-cylinder unit making about 83 PS (roughly 82 bhp) at 5,700 rpm and 112 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. On paper the numbers are close to the old car, but the switch from four cylinders to three is the talking point. Three-cylinder engines are lighter and more efficient, yet they can send more vibration and a gruffer note into the cabin, especially at idle and low revs. How well Maruti has isolated that will decide how premium the Baleno still feels.

The CNG option produces about 70 PS and 102 Nm and comes with a five-speed manual only. One much-discussed pre-launch rumour was a CNG automatic, which would have been a Maruti first; outlets including CarWale reported a CNG-AMT was on the cards. At launch, though, the AMT is offered only on the petrol, and the CNG stays manual. A CNG-AMT for the Baleno remains expected, not officially confirmed for this facelift.

Efficiency is where the new engine earns its keep. Maruti quotes ARAI figures of 23.80 kmpl for the petrol manual, 24.77 kmpl for the petrol AMT and 33.61 km/kg for the CNG, all improvements over the outgoing car. Those are ARAI-claimed numbers, so expect a little less in real traffic. They also only hold if your tyres are set right, which is a good argument for keeping a boot-friendly OPTIMUS tyre inflator in the car.

That efficiency lead, plus Maruti's service reach, is the Baleno's traditional trump card over the Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. Its own rebadged twin, the Toyota Glanza, sells the same car with a Toyota badge and warranty, so cross-shop those two on price and dealer experience.

Keep that new-car cabin spotless. The Autofy Storm 3 V2.0 is a 4-in-1 cordless unit (vacuum, blower, inflator and deflator) with a BLDC motor spinning to 90,000 RPM for up to 18,000 PA of suction across three modes, plus Type-C charging and a washable HEPA filter. Should you buy the 2026 Baleno facelift?

For most premium-hatch buyers, the answer is a fairly easy yes. You are getting genuinely useful safety kit, six airbags as standard and Level 2 ADAS at the top, along with class-leading claimed efficiency and Maruti's unmatched service network, all from Rs 6.10 lakh. That is strong value.

The two honest watch-outs are the three-cylinder refinement, which you should judge on a test drive, and price creep: the entry point and top trims both sit higher than the car they replace. If you want the ADAS, ventilated seats and the 9-inch screen, you are looking at the Zeta or Alpha, which is where the Baleno starts to feel expensive for a hatchback. New owners often add a dash cam for peace of mind; ADAS watches the road, but a dash cam records it. And if your variant has wired CarPlay, a K1 wireless CarPlay adapter cuts the cable for good.
