Navratri is here, Dussehra falls on 20 October and Diwali on 8 November, so the next five weeks are the busiest car buying window of 2026. The honest picture first: when we compiled this guide on 1 October 2026, carmakers had not yet published their October schemes. So instead of guessing, we show the last verified offers (September 2026, valid till 30 September) as your benchmark, and how to make sure your October deal is at least as good.

Festive calendar 2026: when to book, when to take delivery
Dussehra (Vijayadashami) is on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November, and Diwali on Sunday, 8 November. Delivery slots on these three dates fill up first, especially for popular variants. If you want a specific colour on Dhanteras, book in the first half of October and get the delivery date written on the booking receipt.
What October 2026 offers are confirmed so far?
As of 1 October 2026, none of the major brands (Maruti Suzuki Arena and Nexa, Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Honda, Kia, Toyota, Renault, Skoda or Volkswagen) had released official October 2026 discount lists that we could verify. CarDekho's offers page had switched to October 2026 but showed no model-wise cash, exchange or corporate figures, and the major September reports clearly say their offers ended on 30 September.
So every number below is a September 2026 figure. Treat it as a floor to negotiate from, not a promise for October. Festive schemes are often similar or bigger, but the companies have not officially confirmed this information. Offers also vary by city, dealer, variant, fuel type, MY2025 versus MY2026 stock and availability.
Maruti Suzuki Arena and Nexa
Maruti's September benefits leaned on exchange, scrappage and loyalty bonuses rather than plain cash. The WagonR led the small cars at Rs 57,500; if your new WagonR will sleep outdoors through the festive dust, our CARIZMA waterproof WagonR cover is cut for the 2019 onwards body.
| Model | Max benefit (Sep 2026) | Offer type | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Victoris strong hybrid | Rs 1,35,000 | Cash, exchange, loyalty, scrappage | Petrol/CNG up to Rs 85,000 |
| WagonR | Rs 57,500 | Cash, exchange, corporate | Higher cash on petrol than CNG |
| Alto K10 | Rs 52,500 | Cash, exchange, scrappage, corporate | Base LXi gets most cash |
| Swift | Rs 45,000 | Cash, exchange, scrappage, corporate | Little or no cash on CNG |
| Celerio / Eeco | Rs 42,500 | Cash, exchange, corporate | Varies by fuel |

| Invicto (Nexa) | Rs 1,00,000 | Exchange or scrappage, loyalty | |

| Creta Electric | Rs 50,000 | Cash, exchange or scrappage, upgrade |
Tata Motors
Tata's September offers skipped the Punch and the 2026 Tiago entirely. The Nexon petrol manual got up to Rs 75,000, made up of a Rs 10,000 discount, a Rs 45,000 'intervention' offer and Rs 20,000 scrappage, while the diesel got only scrappage.
| Model | Max benefit (Sep 2026) | Offer type | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Curvv | Rs 1,25,000 | Cash, scrappage, loyalty | Larger on MY2025 Curvv EV stock |
| Nexon | Rs 75,000 | Cash, intervention, scrappage | Diesel: Rs 20,000 scrappage only |
| Altroz | Rs 55,000 | Cash, exchange, scrappage | CNG gets the most |
| Harrier / Safari | Rs 45,000 | Cash, exchange, scrappage | Diesel only |
| Tiago (pre-2026) / Tigor | Rs 35,000 / 30,000 | Cash, scrappage | Stock dependent |
| Punch, 2026 Tiago | No offer | n/a |
Mahindra
Mahindra's biggest numbers were on older inventory. The Scorpio N reached Rs 3 lakh (consumer offer, cash and Rs 25,000 of accessories), the Thar Roxx Rs 2.40 lakh, and the XUV 3XO Rs 1.20 lakh. On the Thar 3-door only 4WD versions qualified.
| Model | Max benefit (Sep 2026) | Offer type | Note |

| Thar 3-door 4WD | Rs 1,00,000 | Cash, accessories | RWD: no offer |
| Bolero Neo Plus / Neo | Rs 50,000 / 20,000 | Cash, accessories |
Honda
Honda covered both MY25 and MY26 cars. The Elevate's Rs 1.79 lakh included up to Rs 1.05 lakh of exchange value, so a buyer without an old car gets much less. Amaze owners parking on the street should look at our SilverTech Honda Amaze cover, made for the 2018 onwards model.
| Model | Max benefit (Sep 2026) | Offer type | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elevate | Rs 1,79,000 | Cash Rs 60k, exchange up to Rs 1.05 lakh, corporate, loyalty, warranty | MY25 and MY26 |
| City | Rs 1,30,000 | Cash up to Rs 60k, exchange, corporate, warranty | |
| Amaze | Rs 50,000 | Cash, exchange, corporate | Second and third gen |
Kia, Toyota, Renault, Skoda and Volkswagen
We found only one source with model-level September figures for these brands, a dealer-level listing on MyCarHelpline, so treat them as indicative. Kia's Sonet showed up to Rs 20,000 exchange, Rs 15,000 scrappage and Rs 15,000 corporate; Toyota's Hyryder Rs 25,000 cash plus up to Rs 50,000 exchange; Renault's Triber Rs 20,000 cash, Rs 25,000 exchange or scrappage and Rs 5,000 corporate; Volkswagen's MY2026 Taigun Rs 1 lakh cash and Rs 20,000 exchange. We could not verify Skoda offers for September or October 2026.
How to actually get the best deal this festive season
- Compare on-road, not ex-showroom. Ask three dealers for an itemised on-road quote; insurance, handling and 'accessory pack' lines are where discounts quietly disappear.
- Buy insurance smartly. Get an outside quote for the same IDV and add-ons and ask the dealer to match it.
- Price your old car first. Get an online valuation before you walk in, so the exchange bonus is not cancelled out by a low trade-in price.
- Know what stacks. Exchange, scrappage and loyalty bonuses are often alternatives, not add-ons. Ask for the total in writing.
- MY2025 vs MY2026. Leftover 2025 stock carries bigger discounts but loses resale value faster. And a car bought now as MY2026 will be a year 'older' in January 2027, so negotiate accordingly.
- Skip the bundled accessory kit. Dealer kits are marked up. Buy only what you need and fit the rest later.
- Get the scheme in writing. If the October scheme is announced after you book, ask for the higher of the two.
A few smart upgrades cost far less outside the showroom: Falcon LED headlight bulbs for brighter night drives on base variants with halogen lamps, an AIR+ tyre inflator for festive highway trips, and a Storm 2 wireless vacuum or the Bolt 5-in-1 vacuum and inflator to keep sweets and crackers dust off the new upholstery.
