Autofy Hydra Waterproof Bike Cover Review 2026: Sizes, Price from Rs 789 and Winter Care Tips
- Autofy Hydra is a waterproof two wheeler cover with two coating layers, heat sealed seams, elastic hem, strap and a carry bag.
- Three sizes: scooter (Rs 789), mid size bike up to 180cc (Rs 829), Royal Enfield size 350cc and more (Rs 849).
- Useful after the monsoon too: it keeps dew, fog moisture, dust and Diwali ash off a bike parked outdoors.
- Never cover a hot exhaust or a wet bike; let it cool and wipe it dry first.
October is a strange month for anyone who parks a two wheeler outdoors. The monsoon has gone from most of India, but your bike still wakes up wet. Dew settles on the seat overnight, dry roads throw up fine dust, Diwali leaves ash and paper bits on every parked vehicle, and by November large parts of north India park in fog. A good cover handles all of that. Here is our honest look at the Autofy Hydra, the cover we make for exactly this season.
Why does a bike need a cover after the monsoon ends?
Most riders put the cover away once the rain stops. That is usually when the slow damage starts. A bike parked in the open from October to January deals with four things the rain season does not prepare you for.
- Dew and fog: moisture condenses on the seat, switches, chrome and chain every night. A wet seat at 7 am is annoying; moisture sitting on metal parts for weeks is worse.
- Post-monsoon dust: as roads dry, dust settles on paint, the visor and the headlamp lens. Wiping dry dust off paint is how fine scratches happen.
- Diwali ash and debris: firecracker residue, burnt paper and ash land on parked vehicles. A cover keeps it on the fabric, not on your tank or seat.
- Sunlight: clear winter skies still mean hours of direct sun on the seat, grips and plastic panels if you park on a terrace or open lot.
In parts of south India the northeast monsoon also brings rain in October and November, so for riders in Chennai and nearby areas the waterproofing matters even more now than in July.
What is the Autofy Hydra bike cover?
Hydra is our waterproof body cover for scooters and motorcycles. Here is what the product page says, without decoration:
- 100% waterproof, lab tested: high density fabric with two layers of waterproof coating, and a hydrostatic test report shown in the product images.
- Heat sealed stitches: the thread stitches are sealed from inside with waterproofing tape, so water cannot creep in through the seams, which is where most covers leak.
- All weather: built for heavy rain, heat and cold, with lab reports for colour fastness and colour fading. The listing also calls out UV protection.
- Full coverage: goes down to the tyres, even on bikes with mirrors fitted.
- Elastic hem and strap: for a snug fit, plus a carry bag to store it.
- Three sizes: scooter, mid size bike up to 180cc, and Royal Enfield size (350cc and more). Colours are assorted.

Hydra vs a basic cover vs no cover: which protects better?
| What you get | Autofy Hydra | Basic non waterproof cover | No cover |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dew and fog moisture | Stays outside the fabric | Soaks through over a night | Directly on seat and metal |
| Rain (incl. northeast monsoon) | Waterproof with sealed seams | Leaks at seams and fabric | Fully exposed |
| Dust and Diwali ash | Collected on the cover | Mostly blocked | Settles on paint and seat |
| Sun on seat and plastics | Shaded, UV protection claimed | Shaded | Full exposure |
| Fit in wind | Elastic hem plus strap | Often loose | Not applicable |
| Storage | Carry bag included | Varies | Nothing to store |
Which Hydra size fits my bike or scooter?
Hydra comes in three variants. Pick by the size of your vehicle, not just engine cc, and if you have a large top box or crash guards, consider going one size up.
| Hydra variant | Built for | Price (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Upto Scooter Size | Scooters such as Activa class scooties | Rs 789 |
| Upto Mid-Size Bike (180cc) | Commuter and mid size bikes up to 180cc | Rs 829 |
| Upto Royal Enfield Size (350cc and more) | Royal Enfield size motorcycles incl. Classic, Electra, Thunderbird | Rs 849 |
A quick rule: 100cc to 125cc commuters and most 150cc to 180cc bikes fall in the mid size variant. Bigger 350cc class bikes, or anything Royal Enfield sized, should take the largest one.
How much does a bike cover cost per year?
A cover is a one time spend that works every single night. Here is simple maths on the scooter variant at Rs 789. These are illustrative assumptions, not a lifespan promise; real life depends on how often you use it, where you park and how you care for it.

How do you use a bike cover correctly?
Never cover a hot engine or exhaust
This is the one rule that matters most. After a ride the silencer and engine are hot enough to damage any fabric cover, including Hydra. Park, wait until the exhaust is cool to touch, then cover.
Dry the bike before covering
A waterproof cover keeps water out, which also means it keeps water in. If you ride home through fog or a shower, wipe the seat, tank and chrome with a 1200 GSM microfiber towel first. Covering a wet bike traps moisture underneath.
Fit it front to back, then use the strap
Hook the front over the headlamp and mirrors, pull it back over the seat and tail, let the elastic hem settle under the body, then fasten the strap so wind does not lift it. On a windy terrace, the strap is what keeps the cover in place.
How do you care for a waterproof bike cover?
- Shake off dust and Diwali ash before folding, so grit does not rub against the fabric or your paint next time.
- Rinse with plain water and mild soap if it gets dirty. Skip harsh detergents and brushes that can wear the coating.
- Let it dry fully in shade before packing it in the carry bag.
- Fold rather than crumple, and keep it away from the hot silencer even when stored on the bike.

What else should you sort before winter riding?
Fog season is also about seeing and being seen. A brighter lamp such as the NightHawk 40W H4 LED headlight helps on early morning commutes. Cold mornings are easier on the hands with FANTOM riding gloves, and a heavy duty helmet lock means you do not carry your helmet everywhere once the bike is parked and covered.
Tyre pressure drops as temperatures fall, so a quick top up with the OPTIMUS tyre inflator is worth doing. If you ride long distances, the waterproof Motoplay 5 inch bike navigation screen brings maps and CarPlay to your handlebar.

Is there any downside to the Hydra cover?
One honest limitation: Hydra is a universal fit cover sized in three bands, not a custom tailored cover for your exact model. On a smaller bike within a size band you will see some extra fabric, and accessories like big top boxes or leg guards can make the fit tighter. The elastic hem and strap keep it secure, but it will not look moulded to your bike the way a model specific cover might. And like every fabric cover, it cannot go on a hot exhaust.
Key takeaways
- October to January brings dew, dust, Diwali ash and fog, so a cover is still useful after the monsoon.
- Hydra is waterproof with two coating layers and heat sealed seams, and comes with an elastic hem, strap and carry bag.
- Choose scooter (Rs 789), mid size up to 180cc (Rs 829) or Royal Enfield size (Rs 849).
- Always let the exhaust cool and dry the bike before covering.
