2026 Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 Unveiled: Major Update Coming to India This Year

2026 Triumph Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660 Unveiled: Major Update Coming to India This Year

Triumph has officially taken the covers off the 2026 Triumph Trident 660 and 2026 Triumph Tiger Sport 660, and this is the most important upgrade the 660cc platform of the brand has had to date. The same mechanical and electronic improvements that were made to the Daytona 660 are now being enjoyed on both motorcycles and have made them more powerful, refined and technologically advanced.

With a launch in India scheduled for later this year, these updates put Triumph in a more competitive position in the high-end middleweight motorcycle category. The emphasis, this time around, is obvious: increased performance but with no compromise on the usability aspect.

Upgraded 660cc Inline-Triple Engine: More Power, Higher Rev Limit

The biggest highlight of the 2026 update is the reworked 660cc inline three-cylinder engine. Output now stands at 93.7 bhp and 68 Nm, which is a healthy increase of 13.8 bhp over the previous version. Peak power arrives at 11,250 rpm, while torque peaks at 8,250 rpm, giving the engine a sportier character.

Despite the higher rev ceiling, Triumph claims that nearly 80% of peak torque is available from just 3,000 rpm, ensuring strong real-world performance. This balance between top-end excitement and low-end usability makes the engine suitable for both city riding and highway touring.

The redline has also increased by around 20%, now stretching to 12,650 rpm, adding to the bike’s performance-focused feel.

Major Mechanical Changes: Throttle Bodies, Airbox and Cooling

Triumph has gone beyond simple tuning changes for 2026. One of the most important updates is the move from a single throttle body to three individual 44mm throttle bodies, significantly improving throttle response and airflow.

Supporting this are:

  • A larger front-mounted airbox
  • Revised cylinder head
  • Bigger exhaust valves
  • New camshaft profile

To handle the additional heat from the higher performance, the cooling system has also been upgraded with a larger and repositioned radiator and fan. These changes are aimed at maintaining consistent performance even during aggressive riding or long-distance use.

2026 Triumph Trident 660: Sharper Styling and Improved Ride Setup

For 2026, the Triumph Trident 660 receives subtle but effective styling updates. The fuel tank is now wider with deeper knee cut-outs, improving both comfort and control. Revised seats and a refreshed headlight design give the roadster a more muscular and premium stance.

Suspension duties are handled by Showa 41mm USD front forks and a new Showa rear shock with preload and rebound adjustment. Braking hardware remains unchanged, featuring twin 310mm front discs with Nissin callipers, while Michelin Road 5 tyres continue as standard.

Despite the upgrades, the bike remains accessible with:

  • Wet weight: 195 kg
  • Seat height: 810 mm

Electronically, the Trident 660 is well-equipped with ride-by-wire, Sport, Road and Rain modes, a six-axis IMU with cornering ABS and traction control, cruise control, Triumph Shift Assist, and a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity.

2026 Triumph Tiger Sport 660: Stronger Focus on Touring Comfort

The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 gets the same engine and electronics upgrades but stays true to its sport-touring role. A larger 18.6-litre fuel tank improves touring range, while revised bodywork and radiator cowls offer better wind and weather protection.

The adjustable windscreen now provides a wider range of movement, making long rides more comfortable. Suspension travel remains unchanged at 150 mm front and rear, but the rear monoshock now features remote preload adjustment, which is useful when riding with luggage or a pillion.

Even with its added touring equipment, the Tiger Sport 660 maintains a competitive wet weight of 211 kg. Like the Trident, it comes loaded with ride modes, IMU-based safety aids, cruise control, quick shifter, and full LED lighting as standard.

India Launch Timeline and What This Update Means

The 2026 Triumph Trident 660, as well as Tiger Sport 660 will be available in new colour choices and is scheduled to be introduced in India later this year. These motorcycles are now more competitive than ever in the high-end middle weight market with more power and better electronics, and with significant mechanical improvements.

To Indian bikers who desire a cultured inline-triple experience with the contemporary features and presence on the road, this option makes the Triumph 660 series a much more attractive one in the next five years or so (2026).
