Lewis Hamilton’s first Formula One victory for the team came while he was driving the Mercedes W04 during the 2013 season.

Lewis Hamilton’s 2013 Mercedes F1 race vehicle was auctioned off during the first Las Vegas Grand Prix for a stunning $18.8 million (Rs 156.7 crore). Hamilton’s first vehicle at Mercedes after joining the team in 2013, the W04 chassis no.4, gave him his first win for the team. The winning price stunned everyone, topping the auction house RM Sotheby’s pre-sale estimate of $10-15 million.

The hammer price for the transaction was $17.1 million, plus a 10% buyer’s premium, making a total of $18.8 million. It took place in the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel’s Awakening Theater. During the 2013 Formula One season, Hamilton drove this Mercedes W04 in 14 of 19 races. The British driver would win the 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix with this car, becoming the first British driver to do so since Sir Stirling Moss in 1955 at the British GP.

Hamilton went on to finish fourth in the drivers’ championship in 2013, gaining four podiums throughout the season, three of which were in this vehicle (Malaysia, China, and Belgium). Chassis No. 4 is also the first Mercedes F1 vehicle driven by Hamilton to be officially auctioned. It is also the biggest money ever officially paid for a contemporary F1 vehicle.

The race car was powered by a 2.4-litre V8 engine capable of reaching 18,000 rpm and producing 740 bhp as well as an extra 79 bhp via the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS). The engine was mated to a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox developed in collaboration with Xtrac. It was the first F1 vehicle to use front-to-rear inter-connected suspension (FRIC) for increased mechanical grip. It is also the final Mercedes F1 vehicle to feature a high nose.

Lewis Hamilton would ultimately win six of his seven world titles with Mercedes, contributing to the manufacturer’s eight successive constructors’ standings.

This represented an 11% increase in revenues over 2022, putting the firm on track to perhaps outperform its sales performance in CY2022. Last year, the company sold 15,822 units across the country.

Mercedes stated that out of the 12,768 units sold, its TEV models accounted for 25% of sales.
